Gunsen: The Battle for Toshi Ranbo
Gunsen: The Battle for Toshi Ranbo
Rokugan is falling apart, and seven Great Clans (Crab, Crane, Dragon, Lion, Phoenix, Scorpion, and Unicorn) are marching on the fortress of Toshi Ranbo to decide who rules what's left. Gunsen is Office Dog's area control entry into the Legend of the Five Rings setting, built by designer Ben Rosset to deliver a full clan war in well under an hour.
Every clan comes with its own private agenda alongside the public fight for territory, so recruiting the right samurai and drafting the right orders matters as much as where you plant your troops. The game actually started life under the name Tessen before the team renamed it partway through development after discovering another published game already had a nearly identical title, a footnote longtime L5R players tend to notice.
